In the universe of Foundation: Galactic Frontier, control over Ports represents far more than a strategic advantage, it defines a Guild’s influence, reach, and prosperity. Ports are the beating heart of the game’s trade network and the foundation of power within each star system. For those who master the art of Port Occupation, the stars themselves become the stage for glory and domination.
This guide will walk you through every stage of the Port Occupation process, from declaration to victory, and outline the rewards, responsibilities, and strategies that come with holding the gateways of the galaxy.
Before any Guild can lay claim to a Port, it must first declare its intent to wage war. Only Commerce Guild Chairmen and Executive Managers have the authority to initiate a Port War, ensuring that such declarations are strategic and coordinated.
However, not every Port is open to conquest from the outset.
To declare war on a Planet Port, a Guild must first occupy a Star Port within the same or an adjacent star system. The only exception applies to Level 1 Planet Ports, which can be attacked freely for the first time.
To declare war on a Star Port, a Guild must already control at least one Planet Port in that same system.
The requirement to first occupy a Star Port is waived for initial attacks on Level 1 Planet Ports, allowing newer Guilds to begin their expansion without needing prior territorial control.
When multiple Guilds declare war on the same Port, the battle time is determined by whichever Guild declared first, an important detail that can dramatically influence strategic timing across systems.
The Declaration Phase ends with a countdown. Once that timer reaches zero, the true fight for dominance begins.
Once the war declaration concludes, the attacking Guild has a one-hour window to begin its assault. Within this limited timeframe, Guild members must rally, organize fleets, and coordinate strikes to break through the Port’s defenses.
To seize control, the Guild must defeat the garrison forces stationed within the Port’s Space Station. When several Guilds attack simultaneously, the deciding factor comes down to precision and timing: the fleet that deals the final blow to the Port’s Fortress HP will claim the victory.
This mechanic gives rise to a dynamic battlefield where strategy, communication, and timing outweigh sheer power. While some Guilds may attempt to hold back their forces, waiting for others to weaken the fortress before delivering the final strike, such tactics are risky and rarely successful. Combat in Foundation: Galactic Frontier moves quickly, and seizing the perfect moment requires extraordinary coordination and a fair share of luck.
Once a Port battle concludes, whether occupied or defended, the Port enters a period of temporary protection. During this shielded phase, it cannot be attacked or have war declared against it, giving both victors and survivors a brief moment to regroup.
Winning control of a Port is a Guild-wide achievement that brings significant benefits to all members. Every successful occupation enriches the Guild’s strength across multiple fronts:
Resource Buffs: All Guild members receive increased resource yields, enhancing production and trade efficiency.
Participation Rewards: Members who actively join the battle earn additional rewards for their contributions.
First Occupation Rewards: The first time a Port is conquered, all participating members receive an exclusive honor bonus.
Home Port Buff: Planet Ports can become settlement hubs, allowing Guild members to establish a Trader’s Home Port for added benefits.
Stellar Halo: Star Ports grant a powerful, global buff to all Guild members, symbolizing the Guild’s influence across the stars.
Beyond these, Port control also unlocks the Overlord System. After occupying a Star Port, a Guild can nominate an Overlord, granting further strategic bonuses, such as a 10% increase in Attack power. There are five Overlord positions in total, one for each quadrant of the Province map and one central Overlord. A Guild can only hold one Overlord per quadrant, emphasizing the balance between ambition and coordination.
Depending on your port’s level, you’ll receive boosts to:

Port battles are high-stakes affairs. Losing a Port means surrendering not just territory, but also its associated trade routes, bonuses, and influence. However, every defeat offers a valuable opportunity for reflection and adaptation. The most successful Guilds in Foundation: Galactic Frontier are those that learn, reorganize, and strike back stronger than before.
Because each Guild can hold up to 24 Ports (16 Planet Ports and 8 Star Ports), prioritization and planning are vital. With a limited number of War Declarations available daily, every offensive maneuver must be weighed carefully against current defenses, active timers, and resource commitments.
Effective Guilds communicate constantly, using Guild Chat to coordinate rallies, reinforce defenses, and time attacks with precision. A united Guild, guided by a Chairman and Executives who plan their moves as meticulously as fleet maneuvers, will always outperform a scattered one.
Port Occupation in Foundation: Galactic Frontier isn’t simply about brute strength, it’s a test of foresight, teamwork, and timing. The Guild that masters these three elements will rise above the stars, shaping not only their destiny but the political landscape of the galaxy itself.
Whether you’re leading a massive offensive, defending your hard-earned territories, or strategizing your next declaration of war, remember: in Foundation: Galactic Frontier, every Port tells the story of a Guild’s ambition and the courage to claim it.
